My dear Father

I have seen Mr Scarlett and he thinks you had best see him in Town where he will be the middle of August, my share of your acceptance he will give up to you and then you may draw upon me for the remainder due to you, in favor of Mr Clarke 2 years after date, this time is the same as what I believe you proposed and of course will meet your approbation. I heard from Sam yesterday he was at Altona and extremely well, the continent I think improves upon him, and I make no doubt but that he will spend a pleasant time of it abroad. I hope your accounts from Jamaica were according to your wishes and expectations. Pray is it true my Uncle Moulton is married for I have heard a report of that nature. I have had bad accounts of the crops, prices have fallen off 100 hhds. upon Oxford, where will our misfortunes end? My wife desires her best love and I remain in great haste my dear Father
