My dear Sir
You must have perceived from Mr Chapman’s letter what he has done at C. Hill. & by this post I have written him that you will be there early in the week & give him further directions—he appears to have got all the papers &c in that you will have no difficulty in settling with Quillen all your uncle’s a/cs– I do not know who the persons are or Mr. Bay to whom your uncle directed Mr Chapman to pay money weekly, nor the work they are on, but should it be what we are directed by his will to continue & finish I should think you had better go on with the weekly payments–
I have heard from Dr Spence saying he has taken an inventory of every thing at Bloomsbury which he will hand over to you when you arrive there.
I have |recd a ltr| from |Brown| enclosing an a/c showing a balance due him of £1.3.7. I know nothing of the |various| items of expenditure & shall write him I can do nothing in it ’til your return—he complains bitterly that he was not invited to the [illegible word] of his |rhodomontere|[.] I shall take no notice. he appears to have |received| from the 29 |Nov| to date £65– I shall desire him to send me a list of the |books| & have them packed to be forwarded when directed on to you– I shall also write to pay upon for his a/c.
By William’s note you will have perceived that he sent you further a copy of the will–
From Mr Chapman’s letter you will have seen that Mad: |D’Etri| is at present inconsolable but I should think when you have talked to her she will see the propriety of obtaining some profitable employment—we could take her on occasionally to the |Bay| that she might visit the grave of her husband |Lehild|
I should like to know what Miss Murray says about the lodgings as soon as you can inform me– Lady sends her best regards & believe me I am sincerely yours
