My dear Sam

I hope this may find you better than when I left you this Morng, send me a scribal answer yes, or no, as you need not fatigue yourself with writing. I send the padlocks & enclose the £80/–/–. Miss [illegible name] will not give a positive answer as to Sir Joshua till Saturday & it appears their [sic] exists a combination amongst the lodging house keepers against him.
