I am not very distinctly sure of the title of my friend’s paper, as immediately on its reaching my hands I forwarded it to Mr Bentley,—but I believe it related the adventures of an English traveller in Germany, & at Bonn especially. It consisted of some three or four or five sheets, & was written on thin foreign paper. [2] I venture to hope that Mr Bentley will have the goodness to give me an early answer—and I remain

1. Richard Bentley (1794–1871) was the publisher of Bentley’s Miscellany, 1837–68.

2. EBB is undoubtedly referring to “The Carnival at Cologne” by Horne which was published in The New Monthly Magazine for June 1845 (see letter 1915). In no. 1968, she explains to RB how she had assisted Horne with this matter while he was in Germany.
