Dear <Mr> [2] Browning

I truly think my dining room so dull a place that I never can take courage to ask any of my friends to come four miles out to it.—but putting it wholly as an act of benevolence to me—do you think Mr Milsand & you could dine with my old mother & me—(and there are two bright children—or girls—as they call themselves—staying with us)—on Monday or Thursday next at six. I have not the remotest notion how people give dinners now—but there will be mutton, or beef, or something,—& welcome—& thanks.
