My dear Mr Smith,

I shall think it a really unfriendly thing if you hurry yourself in the least: I only wrote to prevent any wonder you might put in case a letter of yours, having miscarried, should seem to be unanswered. Now I am apprised, my purpose is gained—but will not be gained if you are induced to precipitate matters by a minute.

My friend Cartwright is in Town for the season, & would much like to see you, if you will let me call with him some day.
