1. Approximate date based on the stationery, which bears an 1867 watermark, and Cartwright’s presence in London from mid-November 1867. He and his family first stayed at the Coburg Hotel (see letter 5981), later moving to 23 Bruton Street.
2. Probably the 77 George Street in Oxford, though possibly the London address near Portman Square, Marylebone.
