[Boston—Saturday, 28 November 1863]

Saturday. Sat to Mr Rowse for the last time probably. He has been successful in his work.

Went to hear the organ in the evening. The music was divine. Handel’s hallelujah Chorus sung by hundreds while the organ rolled its great tone. Also Handel’s music to Dryden’s Ode to St. Cecilia—and Luthers incomparable hymn to music by Nicolai, Ein feste Burg ist Unser Gott.

We sat in prayer and in tears.
