A soft mist and east wind.
Dr John Ware was buried in the afternoon—in the evening George Augustus Sala came.
Day before yesterday Miss Putnam dined here. She is a physician in the Woman’s hospital. She is not yet thirty but long before she had “finished” her education she determined to become a physician and has held fast through numerous discouragements to her determination. She intends to stay away from home practising in hospitals during four years!!
