[Manchester—Thursday, 15 September 1864]

Thursday Sep. 15, returned from Manchester, the weather blue and gold, breezy ripe with a full moon. From dawn till dusk Nature wears a pellucid smile.

This lasted three days! Three wondrous days—on Sunday the mists returned.
