[Boston—Sunday, 20 December 1868]

Sunday—snow falling at last. Found Jamie had collected $100 yesterday for Miss Felton industrial school so went with it at once to Cambridge. The sky was bright, the air cold but invigorating. Dr. Holmes came into J’s office while I was there—“Come to bring some good news.” “Ah, what is it?”—“Sold a copy of Holmes’s poems! I’ve just bought it! Can’t say you haven’t sold one volume!”

Today snow falling, warm, shrouding everything.
