[Campton—Monday, 17 June 1872]

Monday June 17. Again the day arises in wonderful pomp and beauty. Jamie goes each morning & gathers ferns at the river side—maiden-hair and all the loveliest varieties. I watched the sunset last night as it illuminated the circle of the hills and finally died away to be succeeded by marvellous moonlight. There never was a more glorious season. Every blade of grass this morning is tipped with diamonds.

We sat on the hillside yesterday as in the old days. The place has lost nothing but rather gains in charm for us. My dear boy is filled with delight.
