[Campton—Tuesday, 18 June 1872]

Tuesday June 18. Another glorious day. We start for Sandwich.

We took a walk yesterday—very short, with little Henry the boy Mrs Willey adopted as her son. He is just 7 years old and a perfect specimen of health. The beauty of that child as he lay kicking in the grass or leaping over the ferns to show us how high he could jump, is not common in these days, it is unconscious grace in perfection. We are never tired of watching him. The fury with which he tugged at a small birch sapling until he pulled it up to make a wand of, was a sight to see.
