[Boston—Saturday, 31 May 1873]
Saturday 31. Made a few last preparations for leaving home for a week. Was sorry I could not see old Mr. Minot—on Monday he was dead!
Mrs William Hunt and Dixey came to dine and afterward we went to the lovely concert in aid of Robert Franz which Mr. Dresel projected. Handel’s perfect music to the Allegro & Penseroso of Milton was performed beside solo songs of Franz by Miss Doria. It was a rare treat, the chorus being made up of singers of refinement, each one delightful in his or her own drawingroom.
