[Boston—Sunday, 16 April 1876]

Sunday April 16. A wonderful season. The grass is quite green and summer is in the air. Jamie lectured yesterday on Choate before the law-students of the Boston University. They rallied round him delightedly. It was a grand tribute to the lecturer I thought when the young men were examining the portrait of Choate afterward and making their various criticisms one young fellow said “I think he is one of the handsomest men I ever saw!”
