[Boston—Wednesday, 31 March 1869]

Wednesday March 31st Mother’s and Sarah’s visit came to an end yesterday. They seem to have enjoy[ed] themselves. Very witty letter from Lowell inviting to dine on Roast Pig Fast Day.” Oh! times and seasons! How we do affront you.

I do sincerely regret omitting to put flowers in the church Easter day. We went to walk in the country instead—full of Easter thoughts, but I grieve to say oblivious of those who dearly love the Old Church.
