[Boston—Sunday, 13 May 1877]

Sunday May 13. The buds are bursting and today was really warm. The thermometer may have been anywhere short of ninety degrees.

Jamie and I had a lovely stroll together. We called on Edwin Booth and his wife at the Brunswick Hotel. I was more deeply impressed than ever by his fine grace and quick perception. He said he never slept at night after playing Hamlet.

Went to see the Burnetts. They are fine earnest people and have fought a good fight.
